deleted contacts

I deleted all my contacts off my iPad because I no longer wanted them on there. I didn't realize till after that my iPad and iPhone are synced together with iCloud. So when I deleted them off my iPad, they were all deleted off my iPhone. How can I fix this? Please help!

Also, if it helps, i have verizon and so i have the vzw contact transfer app that has my contacts synced to it but i think that is only helpful for transferring contacts onto a new phone
