Do you need a sim card to use facetime on the new ipad or can you use it just using wifi?
I am not sure how you can connect without a phone number hence the question anyone who can shed light on this would be greatly appreciated

For someone to FaceTime you, they need your e-mail address which can also be your Apple ID.
If you FaceTime someone who has an enabled iPhone you can use their phone number to connect.
FaceTime can use Wi-Fi and if carrier allowed also over cellular.
You don't need a Sim card. Facetime uses your email address to connect.
You can use wifi or cellular.

So you don't need a Sim Card to Facetime audio and actually Facetime someone?
It didn't work for me, and I think it's because I don't have a Sim Card in my iPad. I'm not sure though.
