iPod just charges when connected to PC

I suspect it's because of the moisture it gets when I put it in my pocket. The screen doesn't dim, though (others with water damage say their screen dims and sometimes go blank)

The only thing I can't do is to transfer files. Whenever I connect it to my PC, it charges, but iTunes nor Windows recognizes it. When I connect it to my iPod dock however, it can play the music files perfectly thus suggesting the idea that the cable or my PC has a problem, but no and no. The cable and the PC works perfectly with other iPods.

I tried leaving it overnight buried in uncooked rice but it didn't do anything. :/

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?

What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

Try running an iTunes Device Connectivity test and posting back the results.
