Problems importing 50p AVCHD into Final Cut 6.0.6

This is driving me barmy and I'm sure the answer is fairly simple.

I'm trying to import footage shot on a Sony Handicam CX250E into FCP 6.0.6. Anything shot in 50i comes across easily using Log & Transfer, but clips shot in 50p just won't appear in L&T. From reading this and other forums, I've concluded I need some third party software to convert the footage, and have downloaded Brorsoft & Aunsoft converters (trial versions). But when I try to import the files, they're greyed out and won't come across into the converters.

What am I doing wrong? I've got some footage on the card which I can see but can't edit. It's very frustrating.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I would if I could, but they're greyed out.

I can't do anything with them apart from view them in Quicktime. I've tried to get them into Mpeg Streamclip and the other two converters to make them ProRes without success.

I've copied the SD Card file onto my desktop, I've put it into another file with a different name (suggested in another thread) but the same problem exists when I try to convert them. The folder is fine, but when I go into it the ACVHD files are greyed.
