why did my iphone spark when i was on the phone? it startled me and i dropped it which made it shatter the screen! i find it ridiculous that i have to pay over $400 to get the screen fixed! help!

Why would you pay that much? Out of Warranty replacement via Apple is $229.
Take it to Apple, explain the situation, you may be surprised by their response.
Why would it spark? Probably static electricity built up on your clothing.
As diesel points out, an out of warranty replacement phone is $229. Not $400. Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store.
