Macbook Pro empty trash problem

I recently bought a MacBook Pro Mountain lion, and I have encountered a problem today. I have some files in trash, and every time I try to empty the trash it comes up with a message that says this: The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items. I own the Macbook and I am on the admin account. I have tried going on trash and clicking securely empty trash in finder, but it comes up with the same error. Please Help Me!!!!!

Where did these files come from...?

Are they Time Machine Related...?

No they are not time machine related most of them are .stk files for making stick figure movies but there is also skype.dmg , flash player.dmg and stykz.dmg

In terminal enter

sudo rm -ri ~/.Trash

this will prompt for admin password (you will see nothing when type)

reboot computer.

The command will remove trash folder with all the files in it, and reboot will recreate it.

After you remove trash folder with this comand and reboot your Mac, the system will recreate this folder and this time hopefully with the correct permissions

Yes, I went into disk utility and clicked macintosh HD and I pressed reset permissions. I then waited and restarted my mac. It then worked!

you mean Repair disk permissions...

this is just another way of dealing with permissions problem... and, however, it is mentioned in AnaMusic provided link, which brings us to thank you to AnaMusic 🙂
