itunes match stuck at 'Uploading remaining songs and artwork'

iTunes match stays like this for a while and then it analyzes my library, sends the results to apple, then gets stuck at 'uploading remaining songs and artwork'

It doesn't say what song it is uploading so I have no idea which one is the problem. According to the counter, I have 774 items to upload.

I have turned iTunes match off, updated genius, turned iTunes match back on. Nothing.

I have tried removing all files that say 'waiting' but most of those songs are no longer on my hard drive and no longer in iTunes match (greyed out).

I am getting really frustrated because this is supposed to be a simple process
