If you mean the hard drive, then Yes!
If you mean the hard drive, then Yes!
If the HDD is noisy it is normally indicative of imminent failure. Make sure you have up-to-date backups as it will likely need to be replaced.
if it's the optical drive then less so
It's not the hard drive its where I put my discs cheers

It is my optical drive do I need a service it's two years old
So, your Superdrive! 🙂
It could be failing, they are not always very reliable. Can you still read CDs and DVDs?
Hi I didn't know it was called a SuperDrive it had trouble reading a disc I've had, sounded like it was having trouble reading it. Then it scared me because it wouldn't eject. Then it did finally eject. So I tried a different disc. That started off quite noisy and I was just thinking I've got a problem here , then it read it.
It's just over two years old so it's not like its ancient
Are you covered by the AppleCare warranty?
You might be able to get it working again by:
1. Cleaning it using a proprietary CD lens cleaner that uses tiny brushes,
2. Resetting the SMU:
