also if you have the 4th you will know as you can fit it in one hand.

The iPad 3 has the 30-pin connector, whereas the iPad 4 has the lightning connector.
Cheers, Tom 😉
That is not true the ipad 3 is now coming with the lighting connector also.
No it is not, only the 4th Gen has the Lightning connector, the 3rd Generation has been discontinued.
The 3rd generation ipad (Retina display) has got the new lightning connector in them now. And as ipad 2 is still being sold also ipad 3 is not discontinued.
Show me where the 3rd Generation is shown here: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipad
You missed all the long posts here where iPad 3 users were upset about the 4th Generation Retina iPad being released so soon and replacing the 3rd Generation. Many said their iPads were obsolete and couldn't understand why the 2 was still being sold and the "3" (even though it wasn't called that) was discontinued.
You can still find some new units at some resellers. You can find refurbished units in the Apple Store. None of them have a Lightning connector and they never will.
Technically, there is not a 4th generation iPad. Just a redone iPad 3rd generation with a newer processor and the lighting adapter.
Thanks I did not see that. You are right.
You will be able to tell if you have the iPad 4 because it is really small. The iPad 1 is the only one without a front camera. If you can't tell between the iPad 2 and iPad 3, the iPad 3 has Siri (if you hold down the middle button it will either be Siri or voice control) and the iPad 2 has voice control, Hope I helped :)
