I have other wifi problems with my IMac running Mountain Lion but this is the most annoying. When I start ITunes it doesn't recognise that I have my IPhone 5 and my IPad 2 sitting connected to the same wifi network and waiting to sync.

In the Console I get this error exactly when ITunes starts up:

Google search has explained to me that this is related to Bonjour but nothing further. I have done the 'usual' - booted in safe mode, repaired permissions, updated software, reinstalled Mountain Lion via Disc Recovery, restarted my modem etc.

Before I just wipe the hard drive and start again from scratch, maybe there's something obvious I'm not doing? Every other device in the house (2 x Iphones, 2 x Ipads, 1 Apple TV, 2 wifi radios and 1 other IMac desktop) have no problems with the wifi network.

Try turning off Home Sharing for the Apple TV for a test.

Actually home sharing with Apple TV always works, I never have a problem with it.

Just turned it off on ITunes, shut down ITunes and reopened. Got the same error message as above, only repeated twice ...

I heard that home sharing could block iTunes sharing is all.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

  • RichardCoxon Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Thanks, but when I create a new Admin account, I don't have anything in my ITunes library to sync, it's completely empty.

As it doesn't have any devices synced to it, however, when I start up the blank ITunes in the new admin account, I don't get the mDNS error posted above.

However earlier today when I created a whole new installation of Mountain Lion on another partition and copied over my ITunes library, I repeated the error when that was finished copying.

    Sorry ...

OK so this is starting to bug me. I have had the desktop "repaired" by the Apple reseller that I bought it from - we don't have Apple Store in Belgium. They say that they replaced the wifi card.

However I still cannot wifi sync my IPhone or my IPad on a regular basis. It's intermittent. Sometimes the computer will find them, and sync. Sometimes it will find them, and then lose them. Sometimes not find them at all ... arrrgh!

I am having similar issue.  Getting these same 24 error messages everytime I start iTunes. Sharing is already off.
