Q: can I change my iphone and back up to a new one with a different name?

can I transfer my itunes apps etc to a new phone and change my phone name or will i lose my itunes if I change the phone name on the account?

yes u can.. sync your app with iTunes

Two ways come to mind... at least on a mac. Not a PC user, sooo

Set up two computer accounts (users) with two different itunes librarires. Use one apple id for one account (user) and the other for the second account.

Log in and out from your apple id on the same computer account via itunes store.

Just curious, why do you want two apple id's? If they are both for you, why not keep the same one. Then all your previous purchases will be available to you easily, without the messy log in log out.
