iPhone 3GS
Whats the question?
Whats the question?
I firstly tried to update my phone and it didn't work so I then tried to activate my iphone but this phrase keeps coming up ""Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
Has your phone been activated by your carrier?
Where did you get this phone, exactly?
I ask because that tends to be symptomatic of phones that were jailbroken or hacked to unlock them.
I'm not sure what you mean? Originally, it was working OK with Tmobile but needed an upgrade before I can get any of the apps.
Was your phone jailbroken?
Ah, OK. I got it in Bangkok and so yes, it has been unlocked. Any ideas what I should do now?
Where EXACTLY did you buy the phone? Apple Store (the only place that sells legitimately unlocked phones in the U.S.)? Did you have it legitimately unlocked by AT&T? Did you jailbreak it? Did you take it to a corner shop and have it "unlocked"?
This tends to happen with phones that have been hacked or jailbroken and are then either upgraded or restored.

Buy a new phone. That one was hacked and will quite possibly never activate again.
Your probably going to need to buy a new phone.
I bought the phone in a legitimate apple store.
I did buy it in a legit Apple Store shop and it was jailbroken.
And how, exactly, did you get it unlocked? Apple does not sell unlocked iPhones in Thailand and the carriers there do not offer unlocking.
The only way to unlock it would have been to hack or jailbreak it, which has now resulted in your phone being permanently bricked.
Jailbroken.
Thanks for playing.
Jailbreaking voids your warranty, forfeits all rights to support here or from Apple, and, as you have learned, can permanently damage your phone.
Discussing jailbroken phones is forbidden by the terms of service here.
Maybe whoever wrote the jailbreak can help you.
Apologies for the confusion. I have checked with my bf and no, the phone was not "jailbroken" or "unlocked"- I am an iphone dummy. I will take it to a store here in UK and see what they say. Apologies for headache.
