Importing

I just rendered a 3D animation from the application render. It exports as a quicktime player video. I am interested in making a video out of this, but it wont let me import it into imovie. I am on mountain lion OSX on macbook pro.

P.S When I try to open the file it says the required codects for this video are not availible. Does anyone know what this means and/or how to fix it?
