Macbook Air OSX Lion cursor going insane?

Hey,

So about 3 days ago, I was trying to delete a file and when I began to drag it to the trash icon, my cursor spazzed out and did like a whole interpretive dance routine. I have a Macbook Air 13" w/ Mac OSX Lion and I use the trackpad. It seems that everytime I have 2 fingers on my trackpad (for when I need to do a 2-finger gesture), all heck breaks loose. So, let me list some things I have noticed;

  • It is more prone to affect 2-finger gestures, but it has gotten to the point to where it spazzes out when I'm just simply trying to click a few buttons on Netflix.
  • I have noticed that when I turn off my WiFi adapter (i.e. running the computer with no internet access), it seems to stop spazzing.

    Having said that, could it be a virus?

    • If so, could someone link me to a good Anti-Virus software?
  • Restarting my computer sometimes disables it, but it always comes back.
  • The cursor is spazzing right now.
  • I installed a virtual machine, and it does the same thing.

    Having said that, could it be hardware related?

Computer Specs

  • Macbook Air 13"
  • OSX Lion 10.7.5
  • 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor
  • 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory

So, my questions are: Has anyone else experienced this? How do I fix it?

I've gotten to the point to where I'll try anything. Please, if you have some advice, tell me!

Thanks,

PJ Flaherty
