I have an older imac 20" and a newer imac 20". I rarely use my older one and want to link the two up to have dual monitors and transfer photos. The older one has a mini display outlet but the newer one only has thunderbolt and USB. What cable would I need to buy and how would I configure the two? Thanks so much!!!

I'm sorry, but 21'5-inch iMac can't be used as a external display
The older 20" and/or newer 21.5" iMac's do not support input, so you can not use a conventional display adapter or cable connection.
You can however use > ScreenRecycler
To transfer data between the two iMac's, you can use a Network connection although a FireWire connection is a lot faster.

So if I buy the screen recyler I can use my old imac as a second montitor through wifi? Would I just connect the firewire from my old computer to my new computer or through a router? Thanks!
also, it says this when I try to install screen recylcer 64bit kernel not supported.
Sorry for any misunderstanding, but what I'm suggesting are two different things.
First I would use the FireWire connection to move everything over to the newer computer and then use ScreenRecycler so that I could use the older iMac as a second display.
I guess what I'm asking is how do I connect the two so they can communicate for the older to act as a second monitor?
What cable do I need to purchase?
