This has happened on restarting after the software update on my MB Pro 5.1, Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
It is not responding to any key combinations. Any methode to findout the problem is with the hardware?
Please help. No service center within 100Km Proximity.
One option is to run the Apple Hardware Test. This should rule out any hardware issues before attempting to try to resolve any software problems.

Is it not logical to check for any software issue, since this problem started right after updating the OS.
I am not able to connect to the internet because "No airport card found"
You are certainly free to "attack" troubleshooting from any angle that you feel is most appropriate. I prefer (& have recommended) that you rule out any hardware issues first. Once verified, I would step next to troubleshooting software.
