Is there a way to have the inspector window, font and color windows to automatically open when you start a new document?

Yes, if it was open when you saved and closed the document it should be open when you open the document again.

Thanks. I am also having a problem when I enter full screen mode all of my inspector windows close during the transition. Is that just a normal function?
Just tried it, yes it does hide your Inspectors but you can get it back with command option i
Apple assumes when you want full screen you want no other distractions. I would have thought sliding your mouse up to the menu bar would mean also make your Inspector show if you had it open, but Apple has decided otherwise.
