How do I get the book purchased on my iphone to back-up on my macbook?

I bought a book on my iphone but want to back it up on my macbook. I cannot get it to happen! HELP! Also, once it is on my macbook, can I transfer the book to my ipad?

Did you try to right click on your phone in the device list in iTunes and choose "transfer purchases"?

After that your book should be listed in "Books" as part of your library, ready to be synced to your iPad.

You could always download it directly to iTunes as a past purchase (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519). And yes, you can sync it to your iPad from iTunes, or automatically download it by going to Settings>iTunes & App Stores an turning Books to On under Automatic Downloads.
