fcp 5.1.4 and leopard

I have been running FCP 5.1.4 (and the rest of final cut studio) using leopard and it seems to work fine. I have seen conflicting recommendations as to whether should not go above tiger. ANy "official" recommendations from apple on this? What might happen if I continue to run FCP on leopard.

Thanks very much

You can only go higher than 10.5.8 with an Intel Mac -- the spec below your message states that you have a G5.

If your system is running fine the way it is, I'd leave it that way. You're dealing with old software and a somewhat dated OS and if you have problems, you may not be able to find the answers.

Minimally, clone your startup drive so you can restore your system to it's previous state if things go south.
