I followed instructions above for Apple TV with aluminum remote. Still no response. Screen is black. Apple icon appeared briefly then went back to black screen.

I cannot access Apple TV. I restarted using the instructions to press menu and down together. The apple icon appeared briefly and then the screen went black. What can I do to restore Apple tV?
