Grey start up page
Is there something I can type in the single user start up page to login and access my Mackbook air? I'm stuck on the grey start up page with the apple logo and no user logins showing.

The link at the top of this page talks about the options for booting in single-user or verbose mode. These might give you a clue as to what's hanging the startup process, and may offer a chance to fix.
There are a lot of possibile causes, though, so it may take some trial and error to fix your system. The logs can be hard to interpret.
Thanks for that, I've been trying everything. I accidently changed the permissions to read only, so now when I turn the computer on, no login details appear.
