how do you replace all the music from your itunes computer with your phone music

  • ChrisJ4203 Level 7 Level 7 (33,950 points)

You don't. Music is designed to by synced one way, from iTunes to the iPhone. Music in your iTunes library should be backed up regularly through iTunes, or the music on the computer, as well as other data, backed up with the computer. If you have changed computers, you can move your library from the old computer to the new computer. After that, when you go to sync your music, it will warn you that your device has been synced to a different library, however once it removes the music from the first library, it will replace it with your backed up library, you will not lose anything.

    you can transfer purchases(like transfer music from your iPhone to iTunes) by;

    1. plugging your iPhone into iTunes.

    2. in iTunes right click on you iPhone under "Devices"(on the collum at the left side of iTunes)

    3. select transfer purchases

All of the purchased items from you iPhone will import to iTunes if you do that.

But by doing that you will just merge music from the phone with the stuff currently on iTunes. You will have to manually delete anything you do not want.

And if you dont want any music from you iTunes on your phone you will have uncheck sync authomatically in the summary tab in iTunes under "devices", or delete the items you do not want on you phone first.

what if i am using IOs 6.1.3.

My situation is similar to above mentioned. But i did not backup my music in the library of the old computer.

and in this latest itunes, i could not find" device" but "On This Iphone"

i tried to right click on the collum at the left side, and "Export" shows up, so i export to my new computer's libraries-> music -> itunes -> itune media. It is a text file. is that same as back up?

First open up iTunes, then go to file>devices>transfer purchases(once phone is is usb cord connected to iTunes). that is how i got my music into my iTunes library.

    I have tried both ways,

    1. First open up iTunes, then go to file>devices>transfer purchases(once phone is is usb cord connected to iTunes). that is how i got my music into my iTunes library.

    and

2.If you have changed computers, you can move your library from the old computer to the new computer. After that, when you go to sync your music, it will warn you that your device has been synced to a different library, however once it removes the music from the first library, it will replace it with your backed up library, you will not lose anything.

and after i sync, i lost all my music in the iphone. How can i import "backed up library" to my itune and phone?

I tried CopyTrans and it did a good job. But know that you can only copy 100 items and then you have to buy it. It is only $19.99 so it isn't super expensive but you can't seem to be able to download your images from the iPhone to the computer with it, that takes CopyTransPhoto and that is an extra $29.99. FYI.

    HERE'S THE STRAIGHT DOPE!!!

When your iTunes keeps automatically starting after you plug in you iPhone, you have to turn iTunes off and then unplug and plug in you iPhone. iTunes should again automatically start and, if you didn't before, you should get the window that allows you to view your iPhone as an external harddrive to view what's stored on it...

When in Itunes and phone plugged in right click on Iphone icon and select "Transfer Purchases”. This will move to a dedicated folder referring to purchases from IPhone and you can move from there into Library.

iTunes automatically re-downloads any purchased item however, anything you’ve ripped or downloaded yourself is stuck on your iPhone. To download any of these files, Windows users should check out vibosoft tool, which will transfer music, videos, playlists, voice memos, and even ringtones back to iTunes.

I hate short cuts on my computer, and didn't realize that by deleting iTunes, I deleted the WHOLE library, 1,586 songs to be exact. Yes, laugh, but I just want to say thank you so much, the website helped, it's only free for 100 songs, but the $25 fee is so worth it!! I have been afraid to sync my phone for months. So, to all you shortcut crazies out there like me, this software is a life saver.

    Hi Florencehsu,

Are you still having problems finding your device? If so, you probably don't have the sidebar displayed:

On a Mac, go to View on the top menu, and click on "Show Sidebar"

On a PC click Command+S to show the sidebar

That may make things easier. Once you click on your device, you can then go to the Music tab on the Profile pane and select how you want your music sync'd back to the phone.

    Cheers,

If you want to transfer iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone to iTunes library, be sure to authorize the computer before connecting the device. To authorize, follow these steps:

    1. Open iTunes.
    2. From the Store menu, choose Authorize Computer.
    3. In the dialog that appears, the Apple ID button is selected by default. If you have an AOL account, select AOL. The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases

    4. Enter your Apple ID or AOL screen name and password, and then click the Authorize button.

Syncing is done via iTunes to the computer as far as music is concerned. Once the phone is connected to the computer/iTunes, then select the phone. On the tabs across the top, select the Music tab, and select what music you want to sync. Which version of iTunes do you have on the computer?

    you can transfer purchases(like transfer music from your iPhone to iTunes) by;

    1. 1. plugging your iPhone into iTunes.
    2. 2. in iTunes right click on you iPhone under "Devices"(on the collum at the left side of iTunes)
