I want to move the icon for Apple's native Maps app to a different screen. But I can't find it! I know it exists because I run it using the Search screen. But how do I figure out where it is currently placed so I can move it??
Check in All Folders and on All Pages/Screens...
Check in Restrictions...
Settings > General > Restrictions
If no joy...
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen

Perhaps it has been going into a folder by accident? Check the app folders on every screen.
Hmmm. I have Restrictions off. I've been checking every folder and still don't see it. There's no way to actually search for where something is besides manually checking every screen and folder?
Try restating it
As wjosten already said: restrictions cannot be set for system apps.
How many screens you have? 5,6,7... And how many app folders?? That can not cost much time.
If your iPhone has been jailbroken, we can do nothing for you, but if not:
You can do a full restart (reset) by holding the Sleep/wake Button AND the Home Button at the same time, keep holding, ignore the slider on the screen and keep holding, when you see the white apple logo you can let go and let the iPhone start up.
If that does not do it "Reset Home screen" like AnaMusic suggested.
I'll keep looking. I have 6 screens, most of them full of folders. I've been going through them but still don't see it. Phone is not jailbroken. I can do a restart reset, but if I find it there on a brand new phone, I still have to do a restore from iTunes, and - much like it did when I first set up this new iPhone 5, it will go away again!

I do not follow:
Restart/reset like I said, does not destroy anything: it stops all running apps, like with a restart of a Mac, that's all.
Restore from iPhone: if you mean the RESTORE Button on the summary page (iTunes): it just restores iOS and all settings, not your data. If you mean the rightclick on the iPhone icon (iTunes): there you can choose "Restore from backup", which will restore all your user data from an earlier backup and will leave the iOS as is.
When the Maps app really cannot be found: this asks for a "Reset Home Screen", which does not destroy any user data, or even RESTORE Button from the Summary (iTunes) page.
NOTE: as always: make backups.
BTW, the Maps app has critics. You can also use the free "google maps" app.

If you search for it in Spotlight search, then if it locates it, on the right side you will see what folder it is located in, like this:
The information I have circled will be the name of the folder it is located in.

Must be an iOS6 feature. Don't see that on iOS5.

Yes, I have iOS 6, and I think that is when I may have recognized it being there. I took the screen shots on November 3.
