SCHC card not working with USB card reader

MacBook late 2008

OS 10.7.5

I bought a new SDHC card for my Raspberry Pi a few months ago.

Today i try to reformat the card to FAT.. but it will not show in finder, wont show in Disk Uttility.

I tested the card reader with a XD card from my camera & it showed in finder streight away.

I am waiting to test the card/reader in my house mates windows PC, when she lets me borrow it....

Now i am reading A LOT of people are having issues with Macbook Pros (which is NOT my model) built in card reader.. & that most of this started after X10.7 update..

I have googled my fingers off to find a fix, work arround.. & found nothing!
