When I try to use Siri to make calls over Bluetooth using my Sennheiser MM 450 X cans, I'm told I must unlock my iPhone 5 first. Is there a way around this without leaving my iPhone permanently unlocked?
iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1
Check Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Allow Access When Locked>Siri and make sure it's set to "On".
Hi Meg and thanks. I tried that several times but without success! I've even rebooted the iPhone by pressing and holding both the on/off and middle button until the phone "died" then switched it on again. Siri ( God bless him) doesn't know my pass code!
Can you used SIri when your phone is locked without the BT headset?
Just tried and the answer is a resounding no. He doesn't know my passcode even when he's sitting next to it!
Just for kicks, try resetting your iPhone by pressing and holding the Home and power buttons until the silver apple appears. Siri works fine for me even if my phone is locked.
Nope! He still wants me to unlock my iPhone first.
I think there is no way to use Siri without unlock first. Besides, to unlock with passcode, there is only manual way to do it. You can't do it with Siri. My iPhone asks to unlock first as well.

In General>Siri>Siri=on>Raise to speak=on.
Then in General Reset>Reset all settings.
No data or apps are lost. it just means you need to rejoin wifi and re input your screen photo!

Thanks. I got it solved as well. But, I don't think that we need to reset all setting.
Anyhow, there are 2 places to set Siri to be ON, first in General and second in Passcode Lock.
In your case, Siri in second place was set as OFF, which would not allow access when the phone was locked. Therefore, if we just set Siri in Passcode Lock to be ON. This will allow access whenever the phone is locked as you prefer right away.
Well, raise to speak shouldn't have been the problem but, hey, as long as you got it working! 🙂
