Q: Why isn't the mirroring option showing up for my apple tv?

My mac book pro is an early 2012 model. I recently bought the apple tv, netflix works great, but my computer is not showing the mirroring option, do I need to download anything else in order for the mirroring option to work/show up?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

It is your OS, you need OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and you have OS X 10.7 Lion. Get it from the app store.
