Q: iPod Shuffle won't turn on and won't charge

The light on my iPod Shuffle 4th gen, won't turn on anymore. I was just using it two days agao and it worked perfectly fine, then I think the battery ran out. When I went to charge it, I plugged it into my computer but Itunes did not recognize it, nor did my computer (Windows). The orange charging light did not turn on either. I have checked to pack sure all the USB ports were in properly and the iPod was in properly. I restarted my computer as well, but nothing seems to work. I tried to plug it into a different computer, but that one did not recognixe it either. Is the battery completely finished?

It can take up to 30 minutes of charging before the Shuffle will show any signs of life. Even then, a hard reset is sometimes required still to jumpstart it.  See this article for instructions on resetting the iPod Shuffle.

So if the iPod does not react/charge/reset at all, I should just leave it in the charger for like 30 mins and it will?

It might and it might not. It's just worth trying at this point.

I went for a run last week and ran my iPod shuffle down to the bones, totally dead battery.  Later, it was unresponsive in charging. I tried all of the tricks everyone has mentioned to fix it, to no avail.  But, by accident, I left it attached and plugged into my laptop's USB ALL NIGHT LONG.  My laptop was not open.  This morning all green lights baby.  Perhaps this trick will work for any other poor shmucks who ruin their batts listening to music to loud while running 5 miles at 7 mins a pop.  Happy trails.
