Q: View APP purchase history on IPAD (not Mac)

I see this question asked and the answer always seems to be to open iTunes and click your account, etc.  this assumes I have a Mac computer, I don't

1.  I do not have a Mac

2.  Opening iTunes on my ipad IOS 6 there is NO account link

3.  Purchase history in the APPS store does not show credit card charges, only a list of all the apps I have, I want to see inapp charges, credit card charges and dates.

I only have an ipad, no Mac.   How do I do this?

iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iOS 6.0.1

Christie7625, your attitude isn't conducive to getting assistance for your issues. Everyone here volunteers their time to answer questions, none of us get paid to do this. Treating us rudely just means everyone will ignore you, and you will not get the answer you want.

If you have a complaint about what the iPad is supposed to do, contact customer service. Or make a suggestion:

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

The fact is that the iPad is NOT supposed to be a full computer. But that's not the point, you want to know how to find purchase information.

    1. Apple always emails you if you buy something. You should save those emails. My email folder has receipts and purchases from Apple going back 8-10 years.

    2. Although it won't tell you how much you spent, or any details, you can go to App Store>Updates>Purchased. You will see what you've purchased since getting your iPad.

    3. to find more details, you will need to go to a real computer, and connect through iTunes. That's just the way it is, mostly because of security issues. No one here would want to change this procedure, because we want our financial details protected.

    I hope this helps.

Actually you are wrong, it does not make sense because it is behind all others in user service.  Checking transaction history is a basic function found on all major commerce sites...amazon, google, eBay, PayPal, Microsoft, along with pretty much everyone else...except apple. All the other sites also send email receipts and they allow customers to access their purchase history online, a logical, reasonable function. Apple is  the only company i know of that doesn't. **** I just used my ipad to log onto dell, and viewed my order history.

So..you are utterly Wong, apple is behind the times, and the idea that I cannot check my order history simply on their website is absurd.  You can defend this irrational policy, but it won't make it any more reasonable

This isn't about attitude it is about logic and reason.  My attitude is negative based on justifiable causes, that apple, unlike ALL other major commerce sites, REQUIRES iTunes ...ON A FULL COMPUTER to view order history.  This should be a basic, fundamental component of their website.  Apple is in the dark ages, and if all you care about is attitude, that has no bearing on the issue and is a straw man fallacy

    bhazel,

There is no longer a requirement to have a computer if you have an iDevice (see iCloud).

A guy I work with is always complaining that he can't see his purchase history on his iPad.  This is an issue for some people.  Maybe not an Apple apologist like yourself, but it is for some people.

A lot have the issue and ther number will grow.   No matter what forums you use, from tech forums to game forums, there are always the Forum Heroes who defend the Company.  No matter how irrational and how flawed the issue is, the Forum Hero has the duty to defend Company and label the legitimate complainer as a troll.  Apple has a lot of disciples.  Exposé a flaw, and rather than citing the obvious....that IT.  IS.  A. FLAW.  They launch into apologist tirades and defend absurdity.

When I'm on my ipad and I buy a power up for Tetris, I don't want to have to plug into some **** computer and launch ITUNES just to check out my recent purchases for some ipad games, it's just stoooopid. I should simply hit a button on my ipad and see my transaction right there...or at the VERY LEAST log on to apple.com and see it there.

    Hi Christie,

i'm with you. I'm an iPad user and have spent a few hours of my time trying to work out why I couldn't use my IPad to access my account information. The apple 'help' person did not attempt to clarify that I could only access this information on a Mac or  bother to ascertain which apple device I am using.

I feel the same as you. If they have facility to take your money on an IPad they should offer the ability to access your account details on the same device. It's that simple.

It does seem however that our issue is with Apple and not with other apple users on this forum, although I can understand your frustration that no one seems willing to acknowledge that the problem stems from a lack of simple logic or common sense on Apple's part.

Christie, I feel your pain, and have expressed some of my own, via a happy customer service survey.

Your quoting those "zealots" who, apparently, defend anything, and everything, that Apple do, seems very relevant!

I've owned my iPad for, literally, 9 days (!!), and was pretty happy, and seriously impressed.....until, this morning, I made my first purchase.....and found no way to check the credit card transaction!!

Now...I don't give a monkeys what excuses all these Apple-groupies trot out about "needing a computer", and "that's the way Apple do it", this is just a load of complete b.llsh.t!!

I purchase something via the iPad, but I CAN'T CHECK THE TRANSACTION!!??!!.....Oh PLEASE.....Do me a favour!!

Like you CHRISTIE, I simply don't OWN a computer, so where does that leave me?!?!?

I'm afraid I am SERIOUSLY unimpressed!!

Firstly, having allowed the red mist to clear a little, let me apologise to all you Apple owners for giving you the impression that I'm some kind of "Internet yob" who's out to offend you with my first ever post!!

That, truly, is NOT who I am, and I feel annoyed with myself or allowing my indiscipline to run riot!

I hope you'll at least understand that, with all the publicity surrounding the potential lack of security concerning Internet purchasing, I was just shocked to find no immediate way to check-out my purchase details!

My apologies again, and I hope, now, that we can all be friends?

Admittedly, there are some limitations on AppleID/iTunes account management on the iOS platform. But it is important to understand the history of iOS. Prior to iOS 5, it was never designed to be a replacement for or operate independently of an iTunes install on a computer. And even now - in spite of the fact that I do NOT sync any of my iOS devices to a computer - I wouldn't attempt to not have access to itunes for managing the account and for emergency troubleshooting purposes. It is what it is. Its unknown right now if this will change with iOS 7 this fall. Apple hasn't published anything on this topic, so it may or may not.

While 99% of my personal computing needs are met by either the iPad or the iPhone, there are still a few things I refrain from doing on iOS. Understanding this is somewhat a personal situation and choice, I think it probably applies to most folks. I've also observed this to be the case with most mobile platforms, at least to a certain degree.

    Hi Christie,

I have had the same query as you and just found that if you go to an emailed receipt then there is a link to your purchase history, click on this and it should get you what you require.

However I have yet to get it to connect to the App Store.

This was all done on my IPad

    Thank you Christie. [3]

I also do not understand why this happens. Why we can only access the history on a Mac or Windows using iTunes? There is no reason that can justify it. It´s unbelievable!
