How do I accept a FaceTime call while playing a full screen game?

FaceTime works fine except when I am playing a fullscreen game. The game is Sims 3. It does not have an option to minimize, fullscreen is the default and only option. When I am in other applications like Word or iTunes, I get the FT window and can accept the call. I have to save and quit in order to get to FT, but by then the caller has disconnected. I have a Macbook Pro. Maybe this is just not an option with this particular game.
