May 15, 2013 1:26 AM in response to kg-bearby chubbj,Struggled with this problem for weeks until I saw your fix. It worked first time. Many thanks.
The original problem was my fault as I downloaded the TimeMachineApp to change the backup frequency, this stopped Apple's own TimeMachine from working as it created a conflict. I had soem difficulty removing all traces of TImeMachineApp, but finally managed after using AppCleaner (Free) and rebooting my iMac.
To change Apple's Time Machine backup frequency is easy using the command line editor, there are a lot of links if you Google 'Time Machine Backup Frequency' that explain the simple procedure. I now have a backup frequency every 3 hours using Apple's own Time Machine, which suits my workflow.
