What happens after it reaches 15 songs?  Does the syncing process just halt?  How is your iPod configured to sync with iTunes?

What it does is it downloads the songs then it says, Sync complete....but I have nearly 800 songs, and currently about 320 of them are checked...and 17 are loading.

I have the following radio buttons checked...

    • Open Itunes when this iPod is connected
    • Sync only checked songs
    • Convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps (I saw this in another post, so I thought I'd try it)
      • when I did this it freed up space on the iPod but it also took FOREVER for it to load the 17songs.

I have an old 80GB that doesn't take but 20 seconds to do it all, and another shuffle from a couple of years ago that loads superfast.

So wierd... I've never had problems before.

    What generation Shuffle is this?

It might just be easier at this point to restore the Shuffle to factory settings and then try reloading content back onto it from iTunes.  The convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kpbs setting will take longer as each track will need to be encoded into the new format at 128 kpbs.  This process takes time and resources to complete.

Here are instructions for restoring the Shuffle if necessary.

Yep, I've done that now 3 times and nothing changes.

How is the iPod configured to sync music from your iTunes library?

And for the third time, what generation Shuffle is it?
