Q: cant connect to wifi

my ATV3 remote doesnt work anymore so Im using the iphone app. I'm trying to connect to my wifi network but everytime i unplug my ether net cord i get disconnected from my phone app. Is there a way to connect to the wifi while the ether net cord is in?

If you don't have the original remote, then you cannot set up Wi-Fi in the first place. You will need to purchase a new remote from the Apple Store.

Welcome to the Apple community.

You cannot use both Wi-Fi and ethernet at the same time on the Apple TV.

However, if your Apple TV is correctly connected to your router using an ethernet cable, there is no reason that you cannot continue to use the remote app on your phone.

I want to use to the wifi on my ATV to eliminate the cord, as it is going upstairs and the router is downstairs.. How can i connect to the wifi without the original remote?
