Iphoto not recognising iphone photos.

I just bought a new iphone 4s and my iphoto is not letting me import my photos. Its telling me there is an error in recognising the photo. Its labled as IMG_3617.JPG

Please help!!

iPhoto '08, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Take a few more pictures and see if it lets you import the others.

As a Test:

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
