need to download lion

Got iMac from my dad, but he wiped it clean. I'm building OS upon OS inorder to get the latest. Having trouble finding the updgrade software Lion.

Need help finding and downloading OSX Lion so that I can install Mountain Lion. Can't find the root sortware anywhere, just am seeing all the updates. Where so I buy it so I can download it. When I search in App store, that where I get support softawre or even books about how to use Lion, but no software!!

You don't need Lion to install or use Mountain Lion. If the Mac App Store won't let you buy Mountain Lion, it's generally because your computer is incompatible with Mountain Lion or needs more RAM installed to use it; installing Lion first won't help with either.

You do not need Lion as a prerequisite for Mountain Lion.

Buy Mountain Lion from the App Store.

I just upgraded my husband's Mac from 10.6.8to 10.8.2 throught the App Store. They've taken 10.7 off the upgrade list, but you can go straight to 10.8.2, if your computer is compatible.
