My macbook froze...

My macbook froze. I restarted it only to receive the gray screen with the apple and the wheel spinning. No progress bar and it just sits there. Won't boot in safe mode. I don't have the install disk. Any ideas?

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
