Can anybody point me to a guide for programmatically adding devices AND profiles to Profile Manager rather than using the GUI?

I'm looking for a way to insert devices and profiles into Profile Manager without using the GUI. I know I can import device placeholders from CSV but I also need to create a unique profile for each device that contains it's own digital certificate for connecting to our wireless system. I really don't want to create these by hand in the Profile Manager GUI. Nor do I want to use Apple Configurator.

Since Profile Manager stores its records in a Postgres database it should, in theory, be possible. Can anybody point me to a guide or walkthrough?
