There is a free program called Onyx that you can download from the Mac OS X page in the downloads section. Download and install it.

You can optimize your system performance and in the cleaning section you can clean your cache's. Do not clean your kernal cache. Basically only clean your internet caches. I have found that when cleaning the core files or system caches it can do things you may not want.

This should speed up some things. If you really want more speed then buy more memory/ram. I think for around $60-$75 you can buy a 512mb stick of ram that will boost your performance at a low price. Do not buy cheap ram. Buy Crucial or TigerDirect has some good ram and so does Small Dog. Newegg has some good prices too.

Get a G5 powermac or whatever the G5 quadro desktops are called. They fly! I think you can expand the ram to 16 gigs!! If you want to stick with a laptop the powerbook 17" it has a faster G4 processor and ddr2 ram. MacBook Pro?? Anyway the iBooks are not light speed but run pretty fast for most applications. Max out the ram and keep your system clean and optimized and you will get the most of your iBook. Besides what is better speed or stability. I have been trying to boost performance of my iBook likewise just to see where I can and the biggest difference came from more memory.

Good Luck

Robert
