Accessing 10.8 encrypted drive in 10.6

I have just recently done a clean install of Mac OS X 10.6.3, removing the OS previously on my MacBook, which was Mac OS X 10.8.2.

Before I did so, I ran a backup to my External HDD, however I have discovered that the HDD was encrypted, and 10.6 won't even try to mount it.

Is there a way to access my external HDD to get my files, or do I have to use a computer running 10.8?

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 2.26GHz C2D, 13" Screen, 4GB RAM

FV2 isn't recognizable by SL, so you'll need to restore ML or use another machine that can mount the volume.
