Am using the Thunderbolt display with a rMBP - can't use the passthrough thunderbolt plug on display when I'm using both thunderbolt ports on the machine. Is that normal?

Or is it just my situation. I thought the rMBP had two thunderbolt buses so you could do passthrough on two separate chains, no?

Should have tried this myself - I reversed the sequence, plugging in the single thunderbolt drive first into the laptop getting that drive working, then plugged in the esata adapter into the display getting both of those drives working. Don't know why the sequence should matter.

Still curious as to whether there are actually two separate buses for thunderbolt in rMBP - assuming there is.
