Installing font gives Error

I've tried installing the COMICS.TTF (not Comic Sans) from a font site, but I get an error messages saying that the font may cause a system crash. Then I tried installing a COMICS.TTF font that works perfectly fine on my Windows PC at work, but I get the same message.

I don't want to risk system crashes but need the font for my side job at home on my Mac. I'm trying to install it by simply clicking on the font on my desktop.

Am I doing something wrong? I thought Macs support most font types, even non-Mac fonts.

Thanks!

Boy are you looking for trouble.

That said, fonts go in three places (or anywhere you want if you have something like Extensis Suitcase). In System/Library/Fonts, Library/fonts, or User/Library/fonts. If what you are describing is the actual font, and not an installer, drag it into one of these folders, and restart.
