Whenever I go to add a title that part of the screen goes gray and then eventually the whole iMovie goes gray. I am able to edit my projects in all other ways. I just cannot add titles. Not sure what the problem is or how to fix it.

I would suggest that you trash your preferences file.

I tried following those steps but I get stuck at the part where I am supposed to press Go and click Library. Library is not an option for me to click on.
You have to press the option key to see the Library option in the Go menu. The Option key should be on your keyboard in the bottom row next to the Command key.
I tried what you said to fix it but it still goes gray whenever I try to add text. Is there any hope that I will get it working on my own? Or should I just wait till I am near a store and ask them to fix it?

diff. approach here:
launch your Font.app (Apps folder)
File/Check fonts ...
if you notice any errors, erase those nasty ones.
Not really sure what to look for to tell which ones have errors. Sorry I am not very good with computers.

that program will tell you …
• launch the Font.app in your Applications Folder
• in the menu bar on top, there's 'File'
• clicking on that, you'll find the option 'Check fonts' …
… that's what I tried to tell you, sorry! 😀
Sorry I cannot seem to find that App. I found a Font Book app but it doesnt have anything about 'Check fonts' under file. Again I am so sorry. Just realizing how bad I am with techonology.
