How do I remove 'CouponDropDown' from my Mac (Snow Leopard)

User uploaded file

For a few days i've been having this problem with pop-up ads on every site i visit. Here is a example of the ad on an apple.com page.

i'm using Google Chrome. Today I deleted 'yontoo add-on' but the problem persists.

Searching for Coupon Drop Down on my computer yields no results.

What can I do to make it go away?

MacBook Air (13-inch Late 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8), using Google Chrome browser

Ok, i solved the problem!

Turns out it was an add-on/extension in my browser causing the problem.
It was colled "torrent handler" and I deleted it, now the pop-ups are gone!
Yay!

I have had this problem as well. For some unknown reason both Firefox and Safari had the Torrent handler addon and the Yontoo add on installed. I have disabled them as others have explained and the redirect problem has gone away. Now I need to figure out how to remove the code sonce its only disabled at this pont. If anyone has an idea on how to do this please respond!

I also had the "coupon" icons showing up in Facebook.

I also have disabled two Firefox extensions and removed the Safari extension, but can't seem to delete it from Firefox (it shows up grayed out).

I did find an installer in user > library > Caches

yontoo.Yontoo-Installer-Silent

and deleted that, but "torrent handler 1.1" is still grayed out. I have a feeling even reinstalling Firefox won't fix it but that's my next step.

I disabled from the Add -ons manager plugins tab this: Shockwave Flash 11.5.502.146

I had been having this problem for about a week. So I checked each plugin to see if any had been added on lately by clicking on 'More' on each plugin and found that Shockwave Flash had been 'Last updated on Jan.8, so I disabled it . Now the CouponDropDowns have disappeared! 🙂 🙂

Hope this works for you

I am also have this problem of random drop down ads when I am in Firefox. I looked for torrent handler, but it is not there. I even uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it and I still have the problem. Can anyone help? This is driving me nuts. I have a MacBook Pro. For now, it has not infected my Safari.

Firefox uses different languages to Safari - go to Preferences>Security>Addons. My problem one was "torrent handler" but there are others that do the same thing - check out the names above and also check out what is in your Extensions/Add-on list - the names might seem appropriate to something you use/need but probably isn't. If you read the page these things are supposed to 'improve your online experience'? Trouble is MY online experience is not improved by adverts. Be ruthless. My experience with Apple programs is that if it is important to the program it will be replaced.

all the best
