restore contacts in address book

Somehow all the cards in a group got corrupted so that the information in one card's "notes" field is now in all the cards -- to the exclusion of the information (important information). trying to restore from TM the information iin library>application support>address book doesn't work. The information in iCloud is likewise wrong. The file library>application support>address book does not seem to exist in my SuperDuper BU. I need my old data. HELP!

No, I also have a TM backup. But every time I tried to restore the application support files, when I launched Address Book the cards were corrupted. Since then, I took the application support files off a MBP that has been turned off and not corrupted. I delected all the Address Book cards in iCloup. I sync with cable from MBP to iPhone than synced iPhone to iCloud. Then turn on syncing to iCloud on everything.

Warning: archive Address Book every once in a while. I don't trust iCloud any more. If data there gets corrupted, everything gets corrupted. And syncing off a device to override iCloud isn't easy. I think I like syncing to MobileMe better.

It has happened again. I was on a different iMac. I searched Address Book for a given parameter. I was adding some information to the Notes field and "zap" the information that had been there was deleted. Before I knew it, it synced to iCloud and it was all "updated" to the wrong information.

I know of no way to get an individual card from a backup. I archived Address Book last Friday, but restoring to that will remove all the intervening data that has been added.

What's the solution? Anyone know a way to recover a given card? What system can I adopt? Apparently, Address Book is getting buggy.

OK. Spent an hour with Apple Technical Support. (Are they great or what?) My iCloud address book had corrupted information. Restoring from TM doesn't work. When I delected cards in iCloud, iCloud would sync with iMac and deleted the cards on iMac, too. All mobile devices had corrupted info, too. When your address book is linked to iCloud, it will update from the cloud the minute you restore from TM. Worse, "the code" to do that is in the files that TM has backed up. The trick is to have your uncorrupted address book exported as a .vcf so that the code is not included. (I had an uncorrupted file on a turned off MBP.) Then, turn off the link to the cloud. Do it two places: System Preferences>iCloud>contacts (turn the switch to off) AND Address Book>Preferences>Accounts (delete). I had deleted all the cards from the iCloud address book. Then I disconnected iMac from the internet (unplugged ether net cable and turned off WIFI). Then import the .vcf file into address book. Connect iMac to internet. Link address book to iCloud: System Preferences>iCloud>contacts (turn the switch to on).

Wasn't it easier in mobile me to do an advance sync and have the computer over write the cloud?!!!
