When you open iPhoto, does it show missing thumbnails or any hint that your photos once existed in there? Which version iPhoto and OS are you running? Any backups by chance that would've run during this time? You can look inside of your iPhoto Library (via Finder) and see if your photos are there. It's possible all your photos are there but the iPhoto database got corrupt and lost it's reference to your photos.
Yes actually it does show some blank thumbnails. iphoto'11 version 9.4 & OSX version 10.8
Not really sure about backups running at that time.i did go into finder and did see some blank thumbnails but no pictures. Idid find that all the photos were transferred into icloud to my phone & ipad but i don't know how to get them back into my Mac. I am self taught so it's trial & error for me sometimes. Thanks for your reply. Any suggestions I'm open.
I was working with iPhoto downloading pictures
Do you mean importing photos? If so what were you importing from? If it is a flash drive why not just re-import from it? Where did you scan them?
As to backups - you really need to always have your backup running - without good backups you will lose all photos sooner or later
Yes I did put it on a flash drive then imported them with that into my Mac. I knew I could use that but the pictures that I had lost had all the date info with the picture I was trying to recover those so I wouldn't have to go back through the slides. Which I did anyway & got the dates that way. Thank you for your help most appreciated
