My iPod Touch 4g screen has just cracked - what are my options? Will Apple fix it and how much will it cost?

My ipod touch just slid off the sofa (less than two feet) and fell on its face. The screen is now cracked but the ipod is still functional. Will Apple repair the screen and if so how much would it cost? I think I was told in store that I could get 10% off a new one, but does this include the new 5g model?

How Long Have You Owned The Now Cracked iPod? It Might Still Have 2 Year Apple WarrentY On It, Then Apple Will Replace It For Free, If You Have Owned It Past 2 Years, However, There Is No Apple Warreny, And It Will Have To Be Replaced On Your Own.

I have checked and my ipod is still under the warrenty, however Apple states "This warranty does not apply: ...(d) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse..." Does this cover a cracked screen due to an accidental drop? Really it shouldn't have happened as the drop was only about two feet but is a repair or replacement covered by the warranty or not?

Thanks for your help! It was interesting that despite speaking to an Apple Genius I was not even asked if the product was under warranty...
