My ipod touch just slid off the sofa (less than two feet) and fell on its face. The screen is now cracked but the ipod is still functional. Will Apple repair the screen and if so how much would it cost? I think I was told in store that I could get 10% off a new one, but does this include the new 5g model?

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

Replace the screen yourself
I have checked and my ipod is still under the warrenty, however Apple states "This warranty does not apply: ...(d) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse..." Does this cover a cracked screen due to an accidental drop? Really it shouldn't have happened as the drop was only about two feet but is a repair or replacement covered by the warranty or not?

Dropping it is not covered by the warranty. The warranty only covers manufacturing errors.

If you live in America, try going to iFix & Repair..... I have been using them for years and they fix my iPod, my friend's iPhones..... I trust them on helping me out.
