Text message to multiple contacts not working

Recently I have been having trouble sending a text message to multiple contacts. Some people say they never get my messages and some do. This never seemed to be a problem before. I've searched online to find the answer and I've seen a youtube clip saying to go into Settings, messages and turn group messaging on, but I don't have that option on my phone. Does anyone know why this might be happening?
