New iPad connects to internet but will not connect to iTunes Store

I purchased a new iPad this week and it connects to the internet but will not connect to the iTunes Store. I am using a Wi-Fi connection that is available in my apartment building. I can't change the settings on the router as it is shared by the entire building. Do I have to invest/set-up my own router to be able to access the iTunes Store for my device?

iPad (4th gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 6.0.1

Saw this on another post.

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

In the meantime ...........

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

This works for some users. Not sure why.

Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

 Cheers, Tom 😉

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, I tried them all and went through several of them with a Sr. Advisor yesterday evening. How long do you think it will take to correct the problems with the servers?

I am thinking of returning the iPad to the store because I already have a device that has access to the internet. Without being able to access the iTunes and Apps Store, I don't really have a need for it.
