Exchange 2010 sp2 published calendar ics problem

i have exchanage 2010 sp2 with a mailbox that is publishing a calendar to an external user, we setup the perms and publishing and it works. however, the ipad can only see the appointment as "busy" or 'free" no title or additional information. anyone seen this before?
