How do I get college textbooks on my iPad?

It depends on where you buy them. Textbooks are still a developing market and yours may not be available in an appropriate format. But if your books are available in Kindle, Nook, Google Books or Apple's iBooks Store, then they can be loaded onto your iPad using the relevant app. If you get the books from some other source, then it would depend on the source.
