Photomosaic?

Hi All, does anyone have any idea how I can create a photomosaic for with my iphoto library? (A photomosaic being an image made up of thousands of smaller images. I can seem to find only one mac app that does this, and because of a patent issue, it's not available in the US.) There has to be an obvious solution. THANKS!

Hi Ira,
There is a really cool screen saver that does a photo mosaic.
You have the option to have each mosaic imported into iPhoto. I disabled that option after awhile because the mosaics were around 7.5 mb each.
It works out best if you have a lot of images in your library and images that have a lot of different colors. You can also put the photos you want the mosaic of in a special album and when the screen saver starts it will only use those photos to create a mosaic of. It is also quite fast compared to another application I tried.

I found two mosaic applications but haven't tried them as yet. They are:

MozoDojo and MacOSaiX

You can give them a try also.

How many images did you need for some of those images? Pretty impressive!

My library has around 3500 images. Lots of beach scenes with blue water and blue skies. I also had a bunch of very dark photos that were taken of my daughter and her band in clubs. I almost deleted the photos but am glad I didn't as the mosaic software made good use of the dark photos.
i printed out 8x10s of some of the best mosaics and the clarity was great.
